An unbelievable report came up on Opera News from a News Agency, ZimbabweLive: It was about a man in Zimbabwe filing for divorce for the reason that his wife was too beautiful. The husband, Arnold, had experienced several nights of sleeplessness, and had been unable to leave home for work for fear of someone else snatching his wife. All through the proceedings in the Court, the wife was reportedly smiling, an attitude which aggravated further the fear of the husband.
As a Matriage Counselor, the following are my views on this subject:
Firstly, it is not advisable to marry solely on the basis of beauty or handsomeness. Rather, it is much more important to seek and search for, in a suitor, inward characters as humility, sobriety, integrity, honesty, hard work and positive attitudes.
Secondly, beauty is good. But not all that glitters is gold. Some things may appear gayish outwardly but inwardly consist of decayed and rotten maggots. Thus, anyone with exterior beauty without inner character is a mere charlatan. Any uninformed person who is swayed by beauty does so at his own peril.
Thirdly, it is also important to note that just as a shinning flower today soon becomes withered sometimes in the future, beauty can fade and most times always fade with time. I know a young woman who was extraordinarily beautiful. Her beauty was simply and uncontestably dazzling. But a few days to their wedding ceremony, the lady got involved in an accident which claimed one of her legs. Her shinning face also got scars. Yet, the man, her suitor, still went ahead to consummate the wedlock. This is because beauty was not his primary consideration for making a choice of his life partner.
Fourthly, please note as people say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is beautiful to you may be ugly to me. Therefore, let the beautiful make no pride of her beauty; and let the not-too-beautiful look down on herself
Fiftly, remember beauty can be manipulated. The purpose of almost all cosmetics today is to alter facial appearance. Scarcely can anyone show up in the public without application of cosmetics to his or her skin. So, to some people, if you get rid of the bodily artificial paint, the real disgusting object will come up.
Sixtly, as in this case, the phobia of someone hijacking this man’s spouse only exists in the realm of his imagination. Whatever controls your mind rules your life. You cannot become any better than what you always think. Yet, most things we think don’t really exist. So, don’t die for what you’re thinking others are thinking about you. Most people have more than enough problems to think about than you.
Conclusively, if this man get rid of the inherent fear, the marriage will be restored and intact.

THE REPORT
Arnold made this claim before the judge, Henry Chizvidzo.
According to Zimbabwean Live, Arnold was divorcing his wife because of her beauty which was giving him sleepless nights.
The situation got so bad that he was afraid of going to work or leaving her alone as he feared she would be snatched by other men.
The judge said it was his first time of handling such a case.
Arnold reportedly decided to use the court to separate with his wife after realising that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in Gokwe, Zimbabwe.
Speaking in Shona, he told the court his wife smiled all the time and he feared this might draw attention from other men.
