A11.14 – STEWARDSHIP OF THE CHURCH

1. Stewardship means the effective and efficient management of resources, 1 Cor 4:1-2

2. A steward is somebody entrusted with and mandated to prudently use another person’s estate, 1 Peter 4:10

3. Every member of the Church is responsible and will give account as a steward of how he uses his time

a) Everybody has equal number of hours per day to be used for the glory of God

b) Everybody will give account of the use of every second of the day, Matt 24:45-47

4. Every member of the Church is responsible and will give account as a steward of how he uses his talent

a) Everybody has at least a talent to be used for the glory of God,

b) Everybody will give account of the use of his talent,

c) Anyone who is not profitable with the use of his talent will lose it,

d) Anyone who is profitable with the use of his talent will receive more, Luke 19:12-26

5. Every member of the Church is responsible and will give account as a steward of how he uses his money

a) Money comes from God

b) Money on its own does not satisfy,

c) Do not substitute silver for the Saviour,

d) God has promised to supply all your needs and not all your wants,

e) Giving is God’s way of blessing

f) You don’t do God a favour by giving but yourself, Luke 6:38
