2. Jesus’ disciples fasted and prayed after the resurrection, Acts 13:2-3

4. The people of Israel were to fast on the Day of Atonement, Jer. 36:6; Acts 27:9

5. Moses fasted during the forty days and forty nights he was on Mount Sinai receiving the law from God, Exodus 34:28

6. King Jehoshaphat called for a fast in all Israel when they were about to be attacked by the Moabites and Ammonites, 2Chro 20:3

7. In response to Jonah’s preaching, the men of Nineveh fasted and put on sackcloth, Jonah 3:5
