1. The Holy Spirit baptism is a gift from God. Nobody receives His baptism by reason of good works, Also, the gift is not for sale, Acts 8:18-23
2. The Holy Spirit is willing to baptize believers who are willing. He will not force His will on anyone for the purpose of baptism, Isa 55:1-2
3. If you want to be baptized in the Holy Spirit,
a) You must genuinely and completely repent from all sins, Acts 17:30
b) You must totally consecrate yourself to God, Acts 2:38-39
c) You must completely restitute and renounce any affiliation or membership of spiritism or occultism, Prov 28:13-14
d) You must be willing and have genuine thirst for the Holy Spirit baptism, John 7:37-39
e) You must develop a desperate and intense desire for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:1-4
f) You must ask and receive by faith, Luke 11:9-13
g) You must yield your tongue and voice to the Holy Spirit. As you by faith yield your tongue to the Holy Spirit and open your mouth in prayers, the power of the Holy Spirit will come upon you. You may not even know the exact time you begin to speak in tongues, John 7:37-39
h) Sometimes, a Spirit-filled believer can lay hands on you to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Acts 8:14-17
i) You should continue in the act of speaking in tongues for as long as you are satisfied. You are to keep ‘drinking from this river’ until you are filled, soaked and full of the Holy Spirit, 1Cor 14:18
j) Thank and praise God in the new tongues you have received for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Col 4:2
k) Don’t let this one experience be the last. Speaking in unknown tongues is not one-off-affair. Cultivate the habit of speaking in tongues whenever you are praying. It is not enough to be baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues but it is much more important and imperative for you to be filled with the Holy Spirit at all times. You should always exercise yourself and be filled with the Holy Spirit continually, Ephesians 5:18
