A9.2 – THE MEANING OF HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM

1. Some people dispute the existence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

2. Some say that every born-again Christian has been baptized in the Spirit at conversion.

3. But baptism in the Holy Spirit is not the same as being born of the Spirit at conversion.

4. Sometimes conversion and Holy Spirit baptism may occur at the same time, Acts 10:45

5. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is to give Christians power and boldness for effective service, 1 Cor 2:4

6. Every believer has the Holy Spirit dwelling in him, but not every believer has got the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Rom 8:9

7. Holy Spirit baptism is a definite experience whereby every Christian knows whether or not he or she has obtained, Acts 19:2

8. When a believer is baptized with the Holy Spirit then he can be Spirit-filled; he can be Spirit-controlled and he can be Spirit-empowered, Acts 10:44

9. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is also referred to as Baptism of the Holy Spirit Heb 6:1-2

10. Every Christian should experience the baptism in the Holy Spirit so as to operate in the full supernatural power of God, John 14:12

11. Apostle Paul insisted that his message and preaching were not with the persuasive words of human wisdom but in the demonstration of the Spirit and of Power. The exhibition of the Holy Spirit Power comes with anointing to destroy the works of the devil, 1 Cor 2:4

12. Every Christian should also be able to explain and teach others about the subject of Holy Spirit baptism Heb 5:12
