A9.3 – PROOF OF BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

1. Conversion or regeneration means to receive Christ. This is an act of obedience by which you submit to the work of Jesus Christ and become a new person 2 Corinthians 5:17

2. Every true born-again Christian has the Holy Spirit, Rom 8:9

3. The Holy Spirit is given by God “to those who obey Him” Acts 5:32

4. The Holy Spirit enters the human spirit at the point of being born again, John 1:12-13

5. As the new believer grows in Christ he begins to produce the fruit of the Spirit, Gal 5:22-23

6. At the point of new birth, the new believer gets authority (Greek word: exousia) to be a son or daughter of God, John 1:12

7. But the new believer has to be endued with the power of the Holy Spirit (Greek word: dunamis) so that he can be effective in the service of the Lord, Acts 1:8

8. The practical act of speaking in tongues, as it was in the early Church, is still the sign of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Speaking in unknown tongues is a Biblical sign of the true New Testament baptism in the Holy Spirit, Acts 2:4

9. As Apostle Paul laid hands on some believers, they received the Holy Spirit and they spoke in tongues, Acts 19:6

10. Jesus Christ promised speaking in tongues as a sign to follow the believers, Mark 16:17-18

11. The Bible enjoins all believers to desire the gift of prophecy and never forbid speaking in tongues, 1Corinthians 14:39
