A9.5 – EXAMPLES OF THOSE BAPTIZED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

a) While Jesus Christ was on earth, the apostles were born again, converted and regenerated. They were born of the Spirit, and they had the Holy Spirit because Jesus breathed on them, 1Peter 1:3

b) Jesus told them to wait in Jerusalem “for the promise of the Father.” This was for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, Acts 1:4-5

c) Being born of the Holy Spirit and being baptized with the Holy Spirit are two separate things: the Apostles were born of the Holy Spirit before Jesus ascended and were baptized of the Holy Spirit after Jesus ascended. It was until this time they exhibited the sign of speaking in tongues, Acts 2:4

c) There was no explicit statement that these Samaritan believers spoke with tongues but it does not mean that it didn’t happen. The reception of the Holy Spirit baptism was not a quiet experience but so obvious that when Simon the magician saw the impressive demonstration, he wanted to purchase the power but Peter rebuked him for this evil, Acts 8:18-23

d) After salvation experience, every believer should press forward to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, 2 Peter 3:18
